Not many people knows that TKU ( Tamkang university ) offer plenty of great PE ( physical education ) course for its student. Water activities is an example. This course included surfing, windsurfing and other progress with the season to help student develop skills to adapt with water course.
The curriculum is divided to two part, the first part is a five weeks of classes which take places at the school's swimming pool. In these classes, students got to learn some basic life saving skills such as what to do when you're out of energy, what to do when you suddently got cramped, how to survive or save life in bad weather etc. The classes also introduce different kind of swimming stroke, mostly feature life-saving style . Most important, it features surfing and windsurfing technique in theory. After these five weeks, class-free for 3 weeks since most of the offical class time will be counted in the second part. So for people who is a bit random with PE classes like me, great choice. In fact, who wouldn't like to have 3 week of free classes, it should be a great choice for everybody!
The second part of the course is going out and have fun. Well, not that kind of clubbing "going out" or bar-ing "having fun". Remember the surfing technique mentioned above ? These are chances to apply them, for real. Student can choose a minimum 2 days and maximum 4 days to register and it's all weekend so you don't have to worry about missing any other classes during the week. Most student enjoy the second part at their best for the first reason is that it is pretty cheap, just about half or one-third of the price of surfing outside, people paid for 2000 or 3000 for doing what we student paid for 500, what an offer. The second reason is that this is a great group activities who helps meeting new friends or develop bonding between close friends. The teachers are very nice and very caring for their student. They remember all of the sport habit and teach us how to adapt to the environment quite well.
For student who is not TKU's, look for platform in your school to gather info, it should be available for all Taiwan. If you can't find any, our school welcome everybody!
